As one of the first zoos to be established in the Netherlands it has become one of Amsterdams most popular tourist attractions, it is a place where nature and cultural heritage come together.

It doesn't only contain an animal kingdom consisting of 750 species, where you can one minute explore the African Savannah full of gazelles and wildebeests, to one minute being acquainted with the coral reef and tropical fish at the ARTIS - Aquarium, to learning more about the microscopic world at the ARTIS Micropia museum. It is also renowned for how beautifully scenic it is, homing over 300 species of trees that create stunning gardens which blossom every spring and summer. It is more than just a zoo, which makes it the perfect family day out for kids and animal lovers alike.

You can also take part in a guided tour in both Dutch and English, requests must be made at least 3 weeks in advance.
