Visit the Museum of the Canals and discover the history behind one of Amsterdam's most renowned trademarks.

 

Your tour will start from the very beginning in 1600 when the city first flourished, ultimately leading to the expansion of the canal district, right though to present day and why the canals are still incremental and special to the city and its visitors.

There is a permanent exhibition which is open the entire year round, you'll find it on the first floor of the museum. Consisting of five interactive rooms and multimedia, you'll gain a whole new perspective and appreciation for the canals that you know and love today.

A free audioguide is available in the following languages: English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Chinese (Mandarin) & Dutch.

Please note: Closed on Mondays and the museum is wheelchair accessible.
