Visit the historic house of one of Amsterdam's regent families, the Van Loons at the Museum Van Loon

Get a feel for Dutch life from the inside with a visit to the impresive Museum Van Loon - an intimate and educational museum, housed inside an impressive nobleman's home. In 1602, Willem van Loon co-founded the Dutch East-India Company and in the centuries that followed, the family played an important role in trade, business, government and social life of Amsterdam.

One of the finest canal houses in the city, it was opened to the public around 30 years ago. The Museum Van Loon offers a unique glimpse at the family's home and impressive collection. Visitors can explore the kitchen, gardens, beautiful reception rooms, stairwells and first floor private quarters
